Goaltender breaks Guy Hebert’s club record of 11,813 career saves during a 3-1 road victory over the Flames

CALGARY, Alberta — Ducks goaltender John Gibson became the franchise’s all-time saves leader during a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.

In stopping his 13th shot by the Flames, Gibson broke Guy Hebert’s record of 11,813 career saves. Gibson, 29, accomplished the feat in his 423rd career appearance, 18 fewer than Hebert. Drafted 39th overall by the Ducks in the 2011 NHL draft, Gibson made his debut with team on April 7, 2014, and is a three-time All-Star.

Gibson finished with 34 saves against Calgary and Max Comtois and Derek Grant each had a goal and an assist in the win.Mikael Backlund scored for Calgary and Jacob Markstrom finished with 15 saves. The Flames snapped a two-game win streak and lost for the sixth time in eight games. Calgary remained four points behind Winnipeg for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
