Former national security adviser John Bolton claimed on Tuesday that his previous boss, former President Donald Trump, is a"laughing fool" in the eyes of world leaders.

Bolton said it was hard to believe that Trump could end Russia's war with Ukraine in one day, and he said it was improbable that Trump's presence in office would have deterred the war. Trump made comments on both fronts during a town hall with CNN last week."Trump has this impression that foreign leaders, especially adversaries, hold him in high regard — that he's got a good relationship with Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un," Bolton told CNN, according to Politico.

"I believe they think he’s a laughing fool. The idea that somehow his presence in office would have deterred Putin is flatly wrong.” Bolton added that the comments showed how"utterly out of touch" Trump was with the war in Ukraine. He also said Trump was out of touch with"what the implications of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine are all around the world."Bolton also claimed Trump's comments were just another example of how he is unfit to become president again in 2024, especially considering his idea to pardon rioters who were unlawfully at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Bolton is considering his own bid for the presidency in 2024. Bolton said in December that Trump as the Republican nominee would be"unacceptable." Bolton has been a critic of Trump since he departed his role in the administration in 2019.
