Johannesburg Water system crash adds to water woes
In a statement, it explained that previous measures implemented to ensure continued water supply were insufficient. This included a 30% water supply reduction.
Since September, bulk water provision to municipalities has risen from an average of 4300 million litres of water a day to 4900 million litres of water a day. “The infrastructure was impacted by the recent power trips from bulk supplier Rand Water, load shedding, as well as high demand. Power cuts impact the pump functionality. However, Johannesburg Water has prioritised critical systems by capacitating them with generators,” said Modingoane.
