A handful of pets are up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Joey came to the Arizona Humane Society in November as an owner surrender when his previous family, unfortunately, could no longer care for him. While undergoing evaluation, it was clear this senior baby was deeply cared for as he is extremely trained, loves everyone he meets and even knows commands in both English and Italian.
Having been rescued once as a stray and taken for spaying, thus the clipped ear, she was then released only to be rescued once again and has finally found a temporary home at Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue. Treated for upper respiratory infections in AHS’ trauma hospital, it was not long before these two were feeling much better. But as is always done when multiple pets come through the shelter, especially if they are with another pet, Pharrell and Ferris were evaluated by AHS’ Behavior Team. It did not take long to see just how bonded they are and rely on each other for comfort. Due to this, the sweet duo are considered best buddies and will need to be adopted together.
