Carlex's take on the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe look like it might have been designed by Velma Dinkley from Scooby-Doo car auto cars
Most people aspire to own a Mercedes someday, but for those to whom that ability is a dull reality, there are tuners like Carlex to make their car a little more special. The customizer’s latest effort shows how seamlessly it can marry old design trends with new vehicles.
Its latest conversion is of a Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe that has been finished inside and out in a Velma-from-Scooby-Doo-approved combination of orange and brown. Although the color combination may have come straight from the ’70s, other design details speak more to modern tastes. To stick with the color-scheme for a moment, Carlex has painted the lower section of the car a vibrant orange, while the hood and roof are finished in a rich brown tone. That combination continues inside. There, the lower section of the vehicle—the seats, the transmission tunnel, the lower dash, and the door cards—are all finished in orange. Meanwhile, the dash topper, the ceiling, and more are finished a rich brown.
To give the SUV a more modern flare, Carlex has really filled out the wheel wells with 22-inch forged alloy wheels. Meanwhile, inside, a carbon fiber strip of trim on the dash speaks to our modern obsession with the racecar material. In addition, the roof is upholstered in Alcántara, and the steering wheel gets a combination of plain and perforated leather, to keep the driver’s hands cool.To round out the look, Carlex has embossed its logo on to the central hand rest.
It may not be as iconic as the Mystery Machine, but the modifications should be enough to make you say, “Jinkies!”
