35-year-old Jim Miller put on a show at the Fort Lauderdale preliminaries, moving into fifth place on the UFC’s all-time wins list:
He’s never been a champion or fought for a title and he’s not a household name among new or casual mixed martial arts fans, yet no fighter has competed in the UFC’s Octagon more times than Jim Miller.
In his record 32nd UFC appearance, the 35-year-old earned a first-round submission victory over Jason Gonzalez in a featured preliminary bout at a UFC Fight Night event in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Saturday night. Miller, who competed in front of his wife and four children for the first time in his career, moved into fifth place on the UFC’s all-time wins list.Miller said after the fight
. “When they told me that they would have them come cage side, it was like, ‘Oh man, I better go out there and do well.’” Gonzalez, 29, fell to 11-5 as a pro and has lost three of his four UFC bouts since making his promotional debut in 2016.
