Johannesburg City Parks is removing 42 infested trees in Craighall, to fight the spread of the polyphagous shot hole borer.
It's been killing trees at an alarming rate, with no real solutions in place.
The PSHB-infested tree’s vascular system begins to fail, leaves start to turn brown, and eventually, the tree dies. The most obvious sign of infestation is that branches have brown stains around each hole where the borer has penetrated the tree.
