PUBLISHED 4:54 PM CDT Sep. 30, 2022AUSTIN, Texas — Rabbi Neil Blumofe of Congregation Agudas Achaim has spent the past 24 years sharing words of wisdom during the High Holy Days in Central Texas.
For the more than 100,000 Jewish community member across the state, it’s a time of great reflection as the Book of Life turns to Hebrew year 5783. In a report released earlier this year, the Anti-Defamation League showed a nearly 30% increase in Texas-based anti-Semitic crimes dating back to 2020. “It reminds us of how fragile we are and it also has had me double down on the friendships, the alliances, the networks that I have in the Jewish community and outside of it as well,” Rabbi Blumofe said.
