Patrick Jette scores four goals, twin brother Adama force in goal as La Jolla Country Day the scores a 10-8 victory over St. Augustine in CIF boys Division I
The Jette brothers proved to be a dynamic duo for the La Jolla Country Day School boys lacrosse team.
“We’re two evenly-matched teams, and their goalkeeper was very effective against us,” said Saints coach John Tolla, who has been at the helm since the program began in 2010. “We put enough shots on him, but he stopped more than he let in.” “This game was redemption for us after we lost to them earlier in the season,” Patrick Jette said of a 12-8 regular-season loss to the Saints in March. “And this was the last game we would play together as teammates.”
St. Augustine struck first in the final on a Colin Foley goal just 56 seconds into the match, but the Torreys tied the score just over two minutes later on a point-blank goal by Luke Givens. The Saints took the lead again on Anthony Ivanjack’s 64goal of the season with 7:17 left in the opening period, but the top-seeded squad was held scoreless until late in the second quarter while La Jolla Country Day netted five unanswered goals.
Ivanjack scored again from 12 yards out with 2:32 left in the half, which ended with the Torreys in front, 6-3.
