For the entirety of their 9-1 win over the CeeBees on Jan. 15, the Blues wore their special jerseys as a part of a fundraiser for Sammy's Climb Higher Foundation. The foundation is in honour of Samuel Riley Porter, a six-year-old from C.B.S. who had a zest for life and a love of sport, and who died last summer.
The Blues’ superhero night served as the official launch of the Sammy’s Climb Higher Foundation and their jerseys were based on the last Halloween costume Samuel wore. That money, along with $1,850 raised by the C.B.S. Wing’ In It women’s softball team during the game, is earmarked to help children discover sports and the arts, as well as help community groups with their equipment needs.
