It took two days for the New Jersey family to meet the wistful Irish woman who threw the bottle in the ocean in 2019.
that was tossed into the sea off the coast of Ireland to be discovered by Frank Bolger and his family during a beach walk in North Wildwood.
The author turns out to be Aiofe Byrne, a 33-year-old writer and musician from the Irish coastal town of Bray, which is about 12 miles south of Dublin. Bray is the town where the Irish singer Sinead O’Connor was buried recently. Karen Bolger, granddaughter Autumn, and Frank Bolger got to meet Aiofe Byrne and her father Martin in a Zoom call on Friday.The woman then explained how she was at the beach in Bray on July 17, 2019, when she found a bottle, tore a page out of the notebook she carried to jot down song lyrics, and scribbled the words:
