Dare Rose narrowly missed out in the 100 butterfly event at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials.

That is still more than twice as long as the amount of time separating a Jersey City swimmer from achieving his dream of making theDare Rose missed out on a spot on Team USA by 4/100ths of a second in the 100-meter butterfly final in Indianapolis on Saturday night.
Caeleb Dressel, the reigning Olympic gold medal winner in the event, finished first in 50.19, while teenager Thomas Heilman was a surprise second in 50.80. Rose finished at 50.84, but only the top two finishers in each event qualify for the Olympics. Rose also finished fourth in the 200-meter butterfly earlier in the trials.
The 21-year-old Rose, whose full name Oludare means “God Give Me Vindication” in Nigerian culture, was a six-time All-American and two-time NCAA champion at Cal. He swam for the powerhouse Scarlet Aquatics team while growing in New Jersey and set records at the Packer Collegiate Institute in New York City.
He won a pair of bronze medals at the world championships in 2023 in the 100-meter butterfly and the 4x100 medley relay, cementing himself as one of the up-and-coming swimmers on the Team USA roster.Thank you for relying on us to provide the journalism you can trust.
