Contestants struggled with their proverbs.
What some might have thought would be an easy category was anything but for the three contestants as the Champions Wildcard competition continued on Jeopardy!, with players from Seasons 37 and 38 who won in their initial appearances but not enough games to qualify for the Tournament of Champions.
During the Jeopardy! round, Leah Wiegand , Pasquale Palumbo , and Isaac Applebaum were faced with the category “Stupid Proverbs.” While Isaac got the $200 clue correct , things took a turn starting with the $400 one. “An American proverb says, ‘Money begets’ this” read the clue. Leah guessed “wealth” and was wrong, as was Pasquale with “problems.” Host Ken Jennings chimed in with “True, but not right, so no,” getting some laughs. “It’s even stupider than wealth or more problems,” he added. The correct answer was “money.”

Pasquale guessed “breed success,” and Isaac and Leah didn’t attempt it. “I think you three are not stupid enough for this category,” Jennings suggested before telling them the correct answer .
