.Jeff_Daniels predicts the future for virtual touring

For now, however, he's back home with his family in Chelsea, Mich., where he's in the midst of a series of four weeklybenefiting his Purple Rose Theatre Company. And inspired by the worldwide audiences that have been tuning in for those, Daniels -- who's released nine albums since 2007 -- is thinking that the shows might be the springboard into virtual touring and playing targeted, ticketed shows in the near future.
The Jeff Daniels -- Live: Online and Unplugged shows are certainly high in production value. Working with his sons Ben and Lucas and high-caliber camera and lighting gear in a home studio where he does voiceover work , Daniels' streaming concerts have a strikingly intimate quality that he complements with a seasoned actor's comfort with the camera.
Supan adds that online chats and additional access to the artists may also be key to selling tickets to virtual shows."There's value in paying for a ticket and knowing you're going to be one of maybe 50 people instead of 500 who might come if it's free," she says."If you're one of even 100 people, chances are is going to see your chat and maybe respond to you or play your request.
