TOKYO : Liquefied natural gas stockpiles held by Japanese electric utilities hit more than one-year lows, as the hot summer drives usage of air-conditioners and typhoons delay cargoes, data released by Japan's industry ministry showed on Wednesday.

LNG inventories held by Japanese electric utilities, a key and the most recent indicator of the stockpile level, were down to 1.81 million metric tons as of Aug. 20, data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed.
