When Jannik Sinner walked onto the court at Wimbledon this past July, he wasn’t only competing in his first Grand Slam semi-final. The Italian tennis star became the first player in the competition’s 146-year history to carry a luxury logo bag—custom Gucci—onto the court. The attention-grabbing duffle required special approval from Wimbledon officials, the International Tennis Federation, and the ATP Tour.
When asked what attracted him to the brand, Sinner said, “The Italian heritage, combined with the ability to always be creative and lead innovation in the field, made our latest collaboration so unique—it’s why I enjoy working with Gucci.” While his Wimbledon run ended at the semifinals with a loss to Novak Djokovic, Sinner has proven over the last few years that, with his combination of athleticism and fashion sense, he’s one to watch.
