BREAKING: Jane Philpott resigns from Trudeau's cabinet. 'There can be a cost to acting on one’s principles, but there is a bigger cost to abandoning them.'
OTTAWA — Treasury Board President Jane Philpott is resigning from the federal cabinet over the fallout from the SNC-Lavalin affair, telling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in an open letter she has “lost confidence in how the government” has dealt with the issue.
It grieves me to resign from a portfolio where I was at work to deliver an important mandate. I must abide by my core values, my ethical responsibilities, constitutional obligations.
