Tomball Memorial has faced its fair share of Cy-Fair ISD teams, but it’s never met a side from District 17-6A.Jamon Richardson hauled in the game-winning catch with three seconds left, and Cypress Creek held on to defeat Tomball Memorial 56-54 in a nondistrict match on a rainy Friday night at Tomball ISD Stadium.
Quarterback Brad Jackson leads the Cypress Creek offense for the third year. He finished with seven touchdowns overall, five in the air, three of those to Rashod Richardson, and two more on the ground.“He’s a football player,” McCaig said about Jackson. “The biggest thing he’s done is he’s grown up and he’s taken ownership of this position.”
Cory O’Bryant made them pay by hauling in a 28-yarder from Reed Odell to give Tomball Memorial a four-point lead before Cypress Creek took the lead for good. After Chase Lovick dropped a wide-open touchdown earlier in the drive, Lovick caught a 20-yarder from Odell to put Tomball Memorial on the board first. The two-point conversion was no good.
The Cougars escaped the opening period with a 16-13 lead after Jackson rolled around to the left side and found Rashod Richardson for the touchdown.
