The Light Blues captain stepped up in Paisley this weekend as he scored from the penalty spot before adding a cracker late on as interim boss Steven Davis picked up a 3-0 win.

James Tavernier has been labelled a 'genuine leader' as criticism of the Rangers skipper has been questioned by one pundit.

Following that loss to Barry Robson's men, Rangers suffered a shocking night in Cyprus as they went down to Aris Limassol as a bad week got even worse. The recruitment at the club this summer has been scrutinised by pundits and fans while questions have been asked of the team and individuals. Tavernier is often singled-out by the support but BBC pundit Michael Stewart believes that is HARSH on the captain and he isn't who they should be looking at.
