The star met Marie Curie volunteers, whom he described as 'the lifeblood' of the charity as they launched their annual appeal
James Nesbitt has kicked off the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal in Belfast. The actor from Coleraine met with the charity's volunteers, calling them "the lifeblood" of the organisation.Marie Curie helps people who are very sick in their homes or at hospices. They give medical care and make sure these individuals and their families feel supported when they are facing tough times.
The charity needs about £11.1 million every year to keep helping people in Northern Ireland through its services and important work. They rely on money made from fundraising and gifts left by people after they pass away. He acknowledged the tough nature of their work: "It's a difficult, challenging role. I know from my good friend, Dr Catherine Doherty, who works at the Marie Curie hospice in Belfast, the compassion, skill and dedication that Marie Curie gives to every person and their families, providing support and care to get through the most difficult and traumatic time."
