The Bravo TV personality was celebrated, and sometimes parodied, for the poise he brought to celebrity interviews.
James Lipton, best known as the distinctive host of the long-running talk show “Inside the Actors Studio,” died Monday. He was 93.“There are so many James Lipton stories but I’m sure he would like to be remembered as someone who loved what he did and had tremendous respect for all the people he worked with,” said Turner, a former model who married Lipton in 1970.
“It began with the resolution that we would deal not with the usual commerce of talk shows, gossip and so forth, but would stick to the subject of craft — and I was concerned that it would limit us, that we would be on the air for a few months and then vanish because people didn’t want to hear people talk about craft,” he said in 2017. “I turned out to be 100% wrong.
Andy Cohen, the host of Bravo’s late-night talk show “Watch What Happens Next,” remembered Lipton as a “warm, meticulous man with a great appreciation of the arts and a wicked sense of humor.”
