MORELIA, México (AP) — Más de 60 años y decenas de películas después, el director y guionista galardonado con el Oscar James Ivory cerró un círculo con su filme “A Cooler Climate” (“James Ivory, el largo viaje”), un documental originalmente filmado en 1960 en el que se entremezclan las memorias del cineasta con las del emperador mogol Babur del s.
XVI. Siendo un joven egresado de la Universidad del Sur de California, Ivory daba sus primeros pasos en el cine cuando recibió 20.000 dólares de The Asian Society para hacer dos películas sobre el continente, una de ellas sería rodada en India y la otra en Afganistán, país que Ivory eligió, en parte, porque tenía un clima menos caluroso.
Escuchamos fragmentos de sus memorias, las cuales tienen muchos puntos en común con la vida de Ivory, como el hecho de que prefería el clima casi perfecto del territorio afgano, pero terminó pasando la mayor parte de su vida en India.
