Look who's back: James Harden among 'Philadelphia Rockets' returning to Toyota Center on Monday night

James Harden's Monday homecoming is confined to the NBA realm, considering the former Rockets guard still resides in Houston.James Harden went through the same post-practice shooting drills, on the same court and at the same rim, as he had countless times before. He was, he would say, “home.”

For all that has changed since he forced a trade to Brooklyn in the 2020-21 season, sending the Rockets into a long rebuild and Harden from one contender to another, his affection for Houston never wavered.Sixers coach Doc Rivers said Harden would be “in a limited role” and emphasized “this is not a suggestion.” Harden said making his return from his foot injury in Houston is “a coincidence” but that he noticed as he progressed that the timing could work out that way.

Montrezl Harrell, who began his career with the Rockets, comes off the Sixers bench, as does former Rockets draft pick De’Anthony Melton . Former Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is the 76ers' team president. Former Rockets CEO Tad Brown holds that position with Philadelphia.
