Duduzile Zuma, daughter of former South African president Jacob Zuma, has dismissed criminal charges of inciting violence during the 2021 July unrest. Appearing in court, she was released on a warning and is set to reappear on March 20th. Zuma maintains the charges are politically motivated.

However, the case was transferred to the Durban High Court, and Duduzile was released on a “warning.” She will appear in court again on 20 March. In 2021, Duduzile Zuma was accused of encouraging the July unrest, where properties and stores around the country were looted, vandalised, and torched. During the period, over 70 people are reported to have died in violent confrontations.
