Jacob Zuma has showed up to support broadcaster Ngizwe Mchunu at the Randburg Magistrates Court where a verdict will be given.

On Friday 3 November 2023, Ngizwe Mchunu will find out if he is guilty of several charges including the incitement of violence and contravening the disaster management acts in July of 2021. Unrest broke out in many parts of the country including Kwa-Zulu Natal and smaller parts of Gauteng after the arrest of Jacob Zuma.

While it won’t have any bearing on his judgement, in the moments before his verdict was cast, Mchunu was supported by the former president. Throughout his trial, Mchunu has asserted that he was not responsible for the widespread violence and looting that followed Zuma’s arrest. Instead, he maintains he was simply protecting the former president. For his part, Jacob Zuma has returned the favour by standing by Mchunu during his most crucial hour. The ANC veteran arrived at the Randburg Magistrates Court in a political entourage that included former ANC member Carl Niehaus.has arrived at the Randburg Magistrate Court.
