Viewers were pleased to see the character take control from her ex by going down to the police station
Emmerdale fans were left congratulating the show after a character was seen making use of a law allowing people to ask police if their partner has an abusive past.
Later, when Tom sees a customer out of the vets, Belle asks him to go and collect Piper, so she could say her final goodbyes. But he tells her it is not possible for her to pick her dog as he does not have it. Furious that he took away her chance to say goodbye, she asks him if this is what he meant when he said 'her loved ones will be punished and she will regret not taking him back'.
At the burial site of Piper, Tom gives a 'heartfelt' speech about Piper being a 'family member' and always making the pair laugh. But Belle reveals that Tom was cruel at a holiday cottage as he left the dog outside for hours - although she was hoping for back up, Sam and Lydia take Tom's side and tell her to put the 'nastiness aside' during the sad time. Belle then takes her turn to say sorry to Piper for not 'protecting her'.
