Coronation Street has dropped a massive hint that a legendary character is set to make a dramatic return 17 years after cobbles exit
Coronation Street has dropped hints about the return of a soap legend, 17 years after their unexpected exit from the show. Les Battersby, played by Bruce Jones, first made his presence felt on the soap in 1997, alongside his wife Janice , his daughter Leanne and stepdaughter Toyah .
After Janice and Les' infamous split due to Janice falling for Dennie Stringer , Les found new love with Cilla Brown . He notably had confrontations with characters such as Martin Platt , Peter Barlow and Mick Hopwood .But in 2007, actor Bruce left the show. Reports suggested that Bruce left following allegations he got drunk with an undercover journalist, leaked future storylines, and made inappropriate comments, according to the Mirror.
Nick's betrayal of Leanne, after she became involved with the dubious "self-help" group The Institute, led to a devastating discovery of his affair with Toyah. Despite the initial shock, Leanne forgave Toyah, and they continued to cohabit. As they packed up their things, Toyah asked Leanne if she had been in touch with Les, and Leanne replied: "Yeah, I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago. He was drunk obviously, and he expected me to summarise what had been happening in my life since the last time we spoke."
