Transport minister Fikile Mbalula was presumably not playing an April Fool’s joke on us when he announced on Friday that 1,424,756 people had two weeks to renew their driver’s licences.

There have been previous extensions of deadlines for renewing licences, but the department of transport seems overwhelmed and the latest one seems somewhat unrealistic.
