The Ottawa Redblacks will have a long off\u002Dseason to think about the mistakes, the disappointments, the ones that got away, the home\u002Dfield whiffs and the…
‘To have a result like today, there’s emotion with it,” said Redblacks coach Bob Dyce. “We know the team is going to be different . The coaching staff could be totally different. You would have loved to walk out with a victory and have everybody maybe leave on a more positive note.
“I’m extremely disappointed with the season we had,” said Antoine Pruneau. “We have a better team than our record shows. It’s frustrating not to be able to win games. It’s even more frustrating to lose at home in front of our fan base, who’ve been amazing since the beginning of my time here. Believe me, it’s not a lack of work. It’s not the reason we’re struggling. Everybody’s working hard. But we have to be better.
Asked about the trick play, Dyce said: “We installed that Day 1, based on how they played our trips into the boundary. We could have called it the first snap, but you want to make sure they’re playing it the same way. Once they did, the next punt we were too a bit too tight to our end zone. I knew we would call it if we were closer to midfield and it worked out.”Advertisement 5After a 29-yard completion to Darvin Adams, Ward booted a 51-yarder to make it 10-6.
The Redblacks got the ball back twice in the final three minutes. They turned the ball over both times with missed third-down gambles.
