Former rugby league star Matty Johns has revealed how his son intervened to help save his relationship with his younger brother following a bitter feud over football.

Matty Johns reveals how relationship with brother Andrew Johns is slowly on the mend following bitter State of Origin feud

“You just know how he explains, how he coaches, the intricacies, the players absolutely love him. Queensland know exactly how they’re going to play and who they need to pick to make that happen," Matty said on air to his sibling. It appeared to be a simple disagreement on opinions, but it was more than that for Andrew who quit appearing on the radio show and stopped talking to his brother. The father-of-two revealed it was an intervention by his eldest son Jack.

It was on a Sunday afternoon while enjoying a couple of beers on the couch at home in Sydney when Jack - who has played for the Newcastle Knights and South Sydney Rabbitohs - asked his dad to go for a drive, which he hesitantly agreed to. The openness from Matty was a bit of a surprise, but he could not hold back given the emotion he witnessed by the Fox sisters which he experienced with his two sons.
