The controversial Karpowership deal with South Africa is no longer proceeding, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has confirmed.

“It’s something that is buried; it’s behind us,” Ramokgopa said in his response to a question posed by energy expert Chris Yelland.This decision followed Karpowership’s failure to meet the December 31 deadline to finalise its financial arrangements.Karpowership operates floating power plants, known as “powerships,” which are equipped with gas-fired turbines capable of generating electricity.
