The director of the Netflix drama said he hired a team to digitally create those scenes because he was worried for the 33-year-old actor's health.

. He took a two-year hiatus from work, and only resumed acting in 2019, after making a full recovery.Due to his health struggles, fans were worried to seeThe drama's director, Cho Eui Seok, has since addressed the concerns, saying that the actor’s smoking scenes in the show were filmed using computer-generated imagery .

In a recent interview with Korean media, Eui Seok mentioned that he had taken “special care” of Woo Bin’s health, and even suggested that the latter use stunt doubles for his action scenes. Woo Bin, however, was determined to do those scenes himself. As the drama is based on a webtoon, the director explained that they did not want to stray away from the original depiction of Woo Bin’s character, who is a chain-smoker.

After giving it much thought, Eui Seok decided to hire a CG team to work on Woo Bin’s smoking scenes. Basically, every scene that shows the actor puffing on a cigarette is “all CGI”. The director also sang high praises of Woo Bin, saying: “After recovering from his illness and returning to acting, the expressions in his eyes tell more stories. His voice is also full of strength, making him the best fit to play the role of 5-8.”“I was so worried for him, so it’s great that it’s CG,” said one netizen. You can watch a clip of Woo Bin in Black Knight below.
