Insp. Brad Lundeen with ALERT said the number of firearms seized from this project alone nearly surpasses the 108 firearms that were seized annually last year.know how many of these firearms were produced and whereThese illegal firearms are produced without serial numbers without any meaningful testing, with no licensing requirements and without regard for public safety.”
Lundeed said ALERT has conducted a number of 3D-printed firearm investigations and has seen several in relation to organized crime. He added that the weapons are favoured by organized crime for their ability to go “undetected” and are “easily acquired.”Article content Among the seized items were eight 3D printers, 11 completed 3D printed firearms, 45 partially completed 3D printed firearm parts, multiple 3D printed firearm components including suppressors, bump stocks and overcapacity magazines, eight handguns and 72 long-barrel firearms.ALERT investigated a total of seven targets and searched homes in Grande Prairie, Penhold, Innisfail, Brooks, Lac Ste. Anne County and two homes in Lloydminster.
