Our LFC fans jury have their say on a frustrating week for Jurgen Klopp's side
It has been a difficult week for Liverpool with the Reds dropping two points at newly promoted Luton Town before an abject performance in France saw them lose 3-1 to Toulouse.
It was surprising just how toothless Liverpool were against Toulouse, especially when you consider how Liverpool fared only weeks earlier when the sides met at Anfield. Liverpool’s defence did not fare any better against Luton and Toulouse. Defensive fragility continues to rear its head this season; it is clear to most that if Liverpool are to challenge for major honours, defensive reinforcements are a priority.
However, it is a glowing reflection on Liverpool’s efforts in recent years – and so far this term – that it still feels so unusual to see us outmanoeuvred in such a way. It’s an experience we can use to our advantage – a potentially productive jolt in the right direction. And we still managed to very nearly get a point.
It was a tough watch as every ball was over hit and the very move forward ended up a dead end. You can’t afford to sleepwalk into a European tie of any nature because you will end up getting punished. This match meant everything to the purple mass of Toulouse fans at home and it showed on the pitch as well, they looked the hungrier team from the get-go.
