Israel has shot down a missile fired from Lebanon - with Hezbollah saying it had targeted the headquarters of intelligence service Mossad near Tel Aviv. Israel continues to strike inside Lebanon, with 569 killed, amid international fears the conflict is on the brink of a major escalation.
The IDF claims to have intercepted a drone crossing into Israeli territory from Syria."No damage or injuries were reported," the military said in a statement.The Israeli military is urging Lebanese families who have fled their homes in southern Lebanon not to return yet.
Some people are sleeping in ad-hoc shelters set up in schools in Beirut and the coastal city of Sidon, while others are sheltering in cars and parks.Children in southern Lebanon are feeling a"strong sense of fear" as the situation there remains"fraught", a charity director has said. "Children have been living in a war situation in the south and also living in collective shelters - and now the situation is more difficult."
"Following the strike on multiple Hezbollah weapons storage facilities, secondary explosions were identified, indicating the presence of large quantities of weaponry within the facilities that were struck", the Israeli military said. It is the first time since escalating clashes between Israel and Hezbollah erupted into a more intense war over the past week that a missile has promoted air raid sirens in Tel Aviv.
