President Biden said in an Oval Office address that supporting the security of both Ukraine and Israel was critical to buttressing the U.S.-led global order. He called on Congress to pass an aid package to fund wars in Ukraine and Israel.
President Biden officially announced the release of two Americans held hostage by Hamas, adding that the administration is continuing its efforts to free those still being held. “I thank the government of Qatar and the government of Israel for their partnership in this work,” he said.
“Jill and I have been holding close in our hearts all the families of unaccounted for Americans. And, as I told those families when I spoke with them last week—we will not stop until we get their loved ones home. As president, I have no higher priority than the safety of Americans held hostage around the world.”
