So, how will the Long Term Plan build on the NHS’s successes -- and, perhaps more importantly, improve services that are currently seriously lacking? Much of the plan involves prevention -- early intervention through teams placed in schools.

And then there’s another issue. With so much emphasis diverted away from the NHS itself and placed instead on schools, the Long Term Plan fails to account for children whoin school, leaving another gap for vulnerable young people to fall through. “What about children with severe mental health problems who, for various reasons, are not in school?” Lee points out. “If you’re not there, you’re just not going to be able to access these services.
