Former home affairs minister Malusi Gigaba is reportedly the latest ANC member to raise his hand to be the next secretary-general ahead of the party’s 55th elective conference in December.
Gigaba joins a growing list of members who have been tipped to occupy the position, including ANC general manager Fébé Potgieter, transport minister Fikile Mbalula, water and sanitation minister Senzo Mchunu and former Gauteng health MEC Gwen Ramokgopa.
In the corrected report, the commission recommended law enforcement agencies conduct investigations with a view to possibly prosecute Gigaba on charges of corruption in relation to cash payments allegedly received by him during visits to the Gupta residence in Saxonwold in 2013.
