Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who inspired a Hollywood film, died in Charles de Gaulle airport on Saturday.
Caught in a diplomatic limbo, Mehran Karimi Nasseri made a small area of Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport his home in 1988.Mr Nasseri was eventually given the right to live in France, but he ended up returning to the airport a few weeks ago, where he died of natural causes, an airport official told AFP.
He had been expelled from London, Amsterdam and Berlin for not having the correct immigration documents. Unable to go anywhere else, he made the airport's 2F Terminal his home. His story attracted international media attention and caught the eye of Stephen Spielberg, who directed The Terminal, starring Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
