Fire Angels provides clothing, car seats and toiletries to more than 30 families in Johnson County.
Principal Valerie Clark, head of Ernie Pyle School 90, was named IPS Principal of the Year on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023."Valerie’s tireless efforts in improving student test scores and fostering a dynamic work environment for her staff exemplify her commitment to education and the betterment of her school community,” Johnson said. “With her guidance, Ernie Pyle thrives as a place where both students and educators can reach their full potential.
The award recognizes principals who go above and beyond in their position while creating an exceptional educational environment.“The most rewarding aspect of being a principal is rewarding students for making growth,” Clark said. “Growing academically, socially and behaviorally is just as important as being proficient on standardized tests."
She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education at IUPUI and a master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, where she also completed her Principal Licensure Program.
