Multiple news outlets reported over the past several days inconsistencies in the calculations scribbled on Iowa caucus worksheets.
In seeking to clarify the devolving situation in Iowa, the state's Democratic Party released a statement on Thursday which appeared to contradict an earlier edict issued by the Democratic National Committee's chairman, Tom Perez.
"Enough is enough," Perez wrote on Twitter."In light of the problems that have emerged in the implementation of the delegate selection plan and in order to assure public confidence in the results, I am calling on the Iowa Democratic Party to immediately begin a recanvass." This statement further confounded the fallout from Iowa's botched caucus night, suggesting that Perez's request may not be sufficient for the party to act.
