An investigation has been called into the withdrawal of a Charles Byrnes runner at Downpatrick for a race that saw a gamble landed as a horse previously owned by the trainer won after being backed from 28/1 into even-money favourite.

Byrnes. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned. "Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards referred the matter on to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation."
