The Nursing and Midwifery Council said the misconduct 'breached the fundamental tenets of the nursing profession' and brought its 'reputation into disrepute'

The NMC concluded that McPherson's fitness to practise was impaired and her misconduct"had the potential to cause physical and emotional harm" to the patient.

Issuing a striking-off order, the NMC stated:"The panel considered that this order was necessary to protect the public, to mark the importance of maintaining public confidence in the profession, and to send to the public and the profession a clear message about the standard of behaviour required of a registered nurse."and Clyde and Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership said:"[We] have robust internal disciplinary procedures.
