. It is based on the life of the eponymous real-life personality and the New York magazine article How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People by Jessica Pressler. The plot revolves around Russian-born Anna Sorokin, who cons the New York elites, hotels, banks, and other financial institutions by making them believe that she is a German heiress to a large fortune.
By definition, a limited series isn’t supposed to have more than one season, and Anna’s story seems to have come to a conclusive end when the inaugural season draws to a close. The series has been leading up to Anna’s trial, where she is found guilty and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison. The season finale ends by revealing that Anna was released from prison on February 11, 2021. A few weeks later, she was taken into custody by ICE for overstaying her visa.
