Sophie began creating filters in 2019, and found that creating beauty filters was “very similar to painting and applying makeup on a person’s face.” Inspired by makeup trends and new product launches, Sophie’s filter designs range from faux foundation to pastel eyeshadow to a series of multicolored butterfly filters.
Some designers are less interested in creating realistic-looking filters. Instead, they see AR as an opportunity to express individuality and alter their appearance in new ways. Digital and 3D makeup artistfits into that category as one of the pioneering designers. “3D and digital software enable you to create anything you want,” she says.
