An inspiring message has been sent to Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele, following the latest developments in his career.

As reported in edition 1259 of Soccer Laduma, Pirates have extended the veteran defender’s contract to keep him at the club beyond the current season. Jele had entered into the last six months of his deal after the Buccaneers agreed to a one-year contract extension in August last year, and as the Soweto giants had an option to further extend his spell by another year, the club has exercised the option to take the deal to the end of the 2022/23 season.

“The club has exercised the option and Happy will remain with the team beyond the current season,” confirmed a close source.Speaking to the Siya crew, former Bucs defender Edward ‘Magents’ Motale has sent an inspiring message to his namesake, as the 35-year-old Middelburg-born player is also known as Magents in football circles.

“I think it’s a good thing that Happy has got a new contract and I’m happy that he still has a job and is playing. Whether it is one year or six months contract, I think the most important thing right now is that he’s got a contract and a job and is playing, and he should utilise the opportunity to the best of his ability,” said Motale.“We all know that Happy can deliver and that isn’t a worry at this stage.
