Sen. Charles Perry, a Lubbock Republican who voted for acquittal, said the prosecution erred in using a “shotgun” instead of a sharpshooter approach. Their time management was poor, he felt, calling multiple whistleblowers who he said retold a similar story with no proof.Perry and Johnson, both lawyers, respectfully tussled over whether to convict. Johnson said he was looking holistically at the entire picture, while Perry pointed to what he saw as a lack of proof.
