Inside the rise and rise of Jacob Zuma's MK Party
When the uMkhonto weSizwe Party was registered in September 2023, it listed a residential address in Eshowe as its headquarters.
Five months later, after a meteoric rise, News24 travelled to northern KwaZulu-Natal to find the birthplace of this new political party disrupting the political landscape, and found a derelict home whose neighbours had no idea what the MK Party was. One neighbour, however, recalled a van with MK Party branding appearing in the area during the voter registration weekend in early February, but had yet to learn who was behind the party or what it was about. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future. News24 has kept the country informed for 25 years, and we're about to enter a new chapter of fearless journalism.
