The Scottish mansion with loch views was recently seen on Gardeners' World
Since taking on the property, Young has made it his"mission" to restore the house and gardens. Speaking on the first episode of the most recent series of Gardeners' World, he said:"We somewhat accidentally bought a botanical garden on the west coast ofThe property came with an additional cottage, its own stream and even a plunge pool. It is located under an hour away from Glasgow by car and boasts a fascinating history.
Horticulturist Dr Jim Taggart cultivated the gardens throughout his life with his son, Jamie, planting thousands of species from all over the world. However, Jamie sadly passed away in 2013, and his father died six years later, leading to the property to fall into a state of disrepair and neglect. It was at this point that Young snapped it up, with local group The Friends of Linn providing a cheque for almost £10,000 to help with the restoration efforts. Some parts of the site require structural work just to make it safe to walk around and the garden is currently closed to the public
Describing himself as a"decent amateur gardener and that's it", Young is now studying for a BSc in horticulture and plantsmanship at the Royal Botanical Garden in Edinburgh.Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our newsletter
