The cosy interior features original wooden beams, and open fire, wood wall panelling with a pastel and earthy colour scheme running throughout, plush lounge chairs and traditional wooden benches. there's tartan-patterned cushions and upholstery, intimate lighting and watercolour paintings featuring countryside scenery.The food menu is brimming with hearty and wholesome British favourites and ever-changing specials, and with a well-stocked bar serving everything from guest ales to batch gins.
James Warburton, who is chairman of Bowland Inns & Hotels and also a former Downham resident, said at the time of the acquisition that the the company is "absolutely delighted" to have secured the "wonderful pub".James has spent the past few months overseeing work on the ancient establishment, which also has 12 rooms, with a few weeks needed to "warm the building through and refresh a few things".
